The Basics

So you’re shopping around for some branded merch… chances are you’re going to be asked for the “Vector Format” of your logo. Your graphic artists should know exactly what that means - but just incase...here is our quick guide on what it is, and what it isn’t.

So What Is It?

Adobe (the leader in digital design software) defines vector art as “Vector artwork is art that's made up of vector graphics. These graphics are points, lines, curves and shapes that are based on mathematical formulas.” These formulas allow us to scale your graphic larger or smaller without compromising the clarity or quality. Having vector art is necessary for production companies to replicate your logos and design with detail and perfection.

How Do I Provide It?

Vector art requires specific file types. Those file types are listed below. However, in certain scenarios, it is possible for these file types to not be fully vectorized.

Acceptable File Types
  • .SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic)
  • .EPS
  • .PDF
  • .AI (Adobe Illustrator)
  • .CGM
  • .CDR

Non-Acceptable File Types
  • .JPEG
  • .DMP
  • .TIFF
  • .GIF
  • .PNG
  • Screenshots

What If I Don’t Have Vector

No worries! Our talented graphic team can help recreate your logo, a process often referred to “vectorizing”. This process takes a little bit of time and patience, but is necessary evil for ordering branded merch. We will likely ask for a high resolution version of your logo that can be used as a base for building your vector art. Fuzzy small images make vectorizing very difficult, so try to avoid small files and screenshots.

Summary

Taking the time to make sure your designs are fully vectorized will ensure a smooth ordering process, and a great result! It’s important to take your time and organize your logos efficiently. To help maintain your  brand standards. To keep things easy, our team will help guide you through the process start to finish.
